NIOSH Announces Latest Voluntary Rescissions of Respirator Approvals
Four companies have voluntarily rescinded respirator approvals for hundreds of models, according to notices posted to the NIOSH website. The rescissions affect 896 models from 3M Company (PDF and PDF), 134 from 3M Scott Fire & Safety (PDF), 16 from Interspiro USA Inc. (PDF), and one from Pure Environments by Shatkin First Inc. (PDF). Respirators bearing the approval numbers listed in the agency’s notices are no longer NIOSH approved and may no longer be used, manufactured, assembled, sold, or distributed. The agency directs individuals to contact the companies for additional information regarding these decisions.
These and other announcements about changes to respirator models’ approval status are collected on a NIOSH Respirator Approval Program webpage.
