A New Platform for the Digital Synergist

If you’re a regular reader of the digital Synergist, you may have wondered why the May issue has been unavailable. The reason for the delay is that we were moving the magazine to a new platform. This transition took longer than hoped for, but I’m pleased to report that the May issue is now published on our new platform and features a fresh design.
The first thing you’ll notice is that the site prompts you for credentials. Don’t worry: we aren’t asking you to create a new username/password combination. If you’re a current AIHA member, all you need to do to access the magazine is enter the same credentials you use for the AIHA website. Once you do that, you will remain logged in for the remainder of your browser session. When you close your browser, the next time you visit the site you will need to re-enter your credentials.
If you can't log in at first, we have some suggestions for you to try. So far, clearing browser cache and cookies has worked for people who were initially unable to log in.
If our suggestions aren't helping and it's possible you've forgotten your AIHA login credentials, please use the “forgot password” function built in to AIHA's self-service portal. Once you have your new password, please wait 24 hours before returning to the digital Synergist to try again.
After you log in, you’ll be brought to the table of contents for the May issue. I trust that you’ll find the navigation intuitive, but I’d like to point out a few features:
- As with our previous platform, the table of contents links directly to each article or department. You can also use the navigation arrows to slide from one page to the next. A new addition is the “up” arrow for scrolling quickly to the top of a page.
- We’ve simplified the header, which now includes a menu for the current issue, a search bar, and a link to the current issue’s table of contents. Clicking or tapping on the Synergist nameplate will take you to our redesigned home page.
- On the home page, you’ll find links to the feature articles for the current issue and an archives section where you can access previous issues. We’ve migrated all 2025 issues to the new platform.
- You may come across some incomplete back issues from 2024. Please pardon our dust while we build out these archives. We plan to have a full year's worth of back issues available on the new platform.
- Older back issues have settled into a new neighborhood in cyberspace. A link to these issues is on the new home page, so you can access the entire Synergist catalog since our very first digital issue from November 2014.
- A parallel effort to the new digital platform is the addition of Synergist PDFs to the AIHA Marketplace. Currently, PDFs of issues from January 2023 to the present are available. Members can download these PDFs free of charge.
The Synergist was always intended to be a benefit of membership in AIHA, so the ability to integrate with the AIHA website login is a welcome advantage of the new digital platform. Readers will also find an improved search function with results that display titles of articles, the issues in which the articles appear, and snippets of text with the search term highlighted. From the perspective of Synergist staff, the new platform simplifies the creation and publishing of articles, which will allow us to work more efficiently.
Although the delay in publishing the May issue has put us behind schedule, we are committed to giving the issue a full four weeks of exposure. We ask for readers’ patience as we get back on track over the remaining months of 2025.
If you have any problems accessing or navigating the digital Synergist, please email us with the following information:
- your type of device (phone, tablet, or desktop/laptop computer)
- the browser you’re using
- a description of the problem
We will troubleshoot any issues as quickly as possible.
Thank you for reading The Synergist!
