Psychosocial hazards—such as ineffective leadership, harassment, excessive workloads, and exposure to traumatic events—can significantly impact employee well-being and organizational performance. Like other hazards, these risks demand systematic identification, evaluation, and control. Psychosocial risks are increasingly recognized in global standards (e.g., ISO 45003), and managing them effectively is essential for sustainable performance, regulatory compliance, and workforce resilience.

This webinar synthesizes insights from recent AIHA sessions into a cohesive introduction to psychosocial risk management. It also previews the full-day Professional Development Course (PDC) debuting at AIHA Connect 2026, where participants will explore advanced strategies and case studies.

      Learning Objectives

After this webinar, participants will be able to:

      • Identify common psychosocial hazards across diverse work environments.
      • Measure exposure and assess risk using qualitative and quantitative tools.
      • Implement controls tailored to organizational context and workforce needs.

      Presenter:

      • Reginald J. Richards, DrPH, CIH

Do you find yourself buried under piles of time-series data from direct-reading instruments and real-time detection systems? Does a handful of files from a targeted exposure assessment quickly turn into an overwhelming backlog of analysis? Are you relying on instrument-generated averages without the ability to tell the full story behind the data?

We have good news. A new peer-reviewed method for simplifying time-series data analysis is now available—at no cost. In this webinar, we’ll introduce you to this approach and show you how to apply it in your own practice. You’ll learn how to move beyond raw numbers and averages to uncover meaningful insights, improve confidence in exposure decisions, and streamline your workflow using the free ATHENA proof-of-concept tool.

ToxShorts Occupational Exposure Banding Basics & ToxShorts Respiratory Anatomy, Physiology, and Toxicology (AIHA Connect 2025 OnDemand)

      OnDemand

      Earn 1.5 Contact Hours

ToxShorts is an educational series created by the Toxicology Committee to make toxicology training content available to more AIHAConnect attendees. The safe handling of chemicals requires the identification and classification of hazards. Where sufficient data are available to support a quantitative limit, an occupational exposure limit (OEL) is calculated. An quantitative assessment and OEL is not feasible for compounds with insufficient toxicological data. Occupational exposure banding is a qualitative method to identify the appropriate control range for a chemical. In this education session, attendees will practice occupational exposure banding using the NIOSH Occupational Exposure Banding Process for Chemical Risk Management. The basic concepts of the process are transferable to any banding scheme. Handouts containing excerpts from banding schemes and sample Safety Data Sheets will be provided.

ToxShorts Occupational Exposure Banding Basics Learning Outcomes
Upon completion, the participant will be able to:

      • Summarize the difference between qualitative and quantitative limits.
      • Identify banding schemes relevant to their work.
      • Demonstrate the basic principles of banding.
      • Apply the NIOSH Tier 1 Banding process.

ToxShorts Respiratory Anatomy, Physiology, and Toxicology Learning Outcomes
Upon completion, the participant will be able to:

      • Identify the relevant structures of the respiratory tract.
      • Outline the chemicals that target each structure.
      • Interpret toxicological data specific to respiratory sensitization.
      • Classify compounds using GHS (H) codes accurately.
      • Distinguish short-term irritant effects from respiratory sensitization.

Managing Roof Hazards on a Multi-Campus Healthcare Organization (AIHA Connect 2025 OnDemand)

      OnDemand

      Earn 1 Contact Hour

Roof safety risks are widespread; each with unique scenarios and EHS challenges. From structural high rises, historic homes, modern flagship buildings, and multi-addition complexes; roof safety regulatory standards and compliance vary based on use, year of design, and construction types. From a no-roof safety infrastructure to state-of-the-art controls, follow one organization through the use of: 1) a risk assessment process to prioritize improvement; 2) asset management systems; and 3) geographic information systems (GIS), to ensure a fully compliant roof safety program. The risks are high, and the effort to bring the organization toward full safety compliance is critical. Learn how patterns were developed, and strategies deployed for effective solutions, for an ultimately safe work environment.

      Learning Outcomes
Upon completion, the participant will be able to:

      • Manage the regulatory components of a roof safety program.
      • Communicate the risk assessment process to senior leadership.
      • Define the relationship between engineering and inspection contractors.
      • Implement asset management programs and GIS to manage data.

      OnDemand

      Earn 1 Contact Hour

In a world plagued by bad information, how can you help ensure that the records you create can be trusted? This session will present: 1) what is Objective Quality Evidence (OQE); 2) what it looks like; and 3) how to use OQE industrial hygiene and safety programs. With a focus on exposure record documentation, a step-by-step process for ensuring the records you create are OQE will be presented. A real-life scenario will demonstrate the preparation for and the conducting of sampling, the receipt of laboratory analysis, and the creation of an exposure record. Attendees will be provided with a) standards; b) best practices; c) reference tools; and d) methods for standardizing documentation to utilize while preparing their OQE records. The presenters will ensure all attendees leave with knowledge of how to take the information they are provided and create a record that is considered Objective Quality Evidence.

      Learning Outcomes
Upon completion, the participant will be able to:

      • Develop OQE to ensure robust documentation in IH programs.
      • Discuss the importance and relevance of OQE for IH applications.
